My new album is out. And I am on it, singing, playing piano, and writing (not to mention working on my first novel). This has been a very emotional year for me, and I’ve been very lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive band, crew, and family.
The new song “You Got Me” is a very different take on the song we recorded with the original band. The first version was a lot more upbeat and fun. The new version is a lot more dramatic. The lyrics are quite different as well, and I think the song is a lot more personal.
The new song You Got Me is called after a very personal relationship, and it was written with a very different perspective. I don’t know about you, but I actually like all the old songs that are still playing in my brain. Like, all of these songs I used to listen to before I started using my computer. I was always like, “Man, I miss that,” or, “This is the song I was listening to when I was in high school.” There’s something I’m missing, and I don’t know what, but there’s something that I miss.
I do think that the most important thing in a new song is a good melody or a catchy melody. But in the beginning, a song like this, you just can’t get enough of it. That’s what i’ve been missing.
