The insanity is a self-imposed punishment for the desire to do something that doesn’t make sense. What insanity does is force us to do something that we don’t intend to do. It takes away the freedom that we had to do something that we didn’t intend to do. But it’s also a very positive thing because you are now forced to do something that you hate. For this freedom to exist, you can only be forced to do something that you want to do.
If you are a person that is forced to do something that you don’t like, it is a very, very positive thing. It is a very liberating thing, because you have something to be free from. What you end up doing after you have done the insanity is what you are actually thinking. You are just doing it. All you are doing is forcing yourself to do something that you didnt want to do.
Many people do this when they start their addiction. They say, “I am going to do this, I am going to do this, I am going to do this, I am going to do this. This is going to be so liberating.” But then they never did it. That is why it is so hard to break a habit. You are the one that is forcing yourself to do it.
To the addict, the act of forcing yourself to do something that you did not want to do is the act of doing it. It is the act of doing it. So that is why some people end up doing things that they dont want to do.
