Here is a very simple rule to help you know when the sun is actually setting on the last days of summer. Just look at the position of the sun and it will tell you the time of day.

But for most of us, it’s hard to keep track of the day we’re supposed to be at the beach or when the last light of the day is disappearing from the sky. So we have a more general rule: When it’s dark, it’s starting to get dark. Also, if you’re looking at the sky and can’t see the sun, the sun is in your eyes.

Light sources such as LEDs are directional, so if you have a big square of LED light, it will only illuminate a small region of your space. I dont know if this issue is unique to LEDs, but I have had trouble with LEDs in the dark.
The truth is, if you are at work, it is possible to set your office lights to a setting that would keep ambient lighting from falling below a certain level. If you are at the beach, this would be a great time to try your luck with the ocean’s waves.

This means that you will have a different amount of ambient lighting in your office when you are at work, and different ambient lighting in your room when you are at the beach. If you are in a dark room and turn on your light, it will be dimmer than when you turn it on when its at work.
