If we are really serious about learning something, we need to practice it more often.
The most-used program on the planet is the one that tells you how much money you have if you calculate it by hand. It’s very easy to use, but if you don’t want to use it, you can still do the math just fine using the calculator.
The basic rule of thumb for calculating with a calculator is that you need to multiply by 100. The rest is just figuring out what number you want to multiply by. It’s a bit of an adjustment for us though, as we were always more of a math person. Our first calculator (a Commodore 64 Model II) was a big black box that came with a green plastic display that didn’t line up with the green keypad on top.
The other calculator was a white board that had two columns, one for the user and another for the calculator. The two columns were separated by a green strip and the calculator had a green keypad. We had the same issue when we first purchased our first calculator. It was a black box that had a plastic display that didnt line up with the plastic keypad, but it was still easier to figure out what numbers were being calculated.
The calculator that we had was a brand new one. It was an HP/Compaq model, and it was one that was being shipped to us by HP. We noticed the display issues right away and the same thing with the calculator was discovered at the end of the day. We went back to the store and they said they had no idea what it was. They sent us a new one.
How do we know that it was a calculator? I think we need to be careful about that here, because when we hit the screen, we don’t know what numbers there are and the numbers are really only a fraction of what we can figure out from the screen.
The calculator is a handheld, programmable, 8-digit calculator. It doesn’t have a screen, it can only display numbers. Since we didn’t know what the problem was, they sent a new one.
So the store sent us a new one, the new one also only has a screen, and it has a number in the screen as well. It was also one of the most expensive calculators I’ve ever seen, so we’re probably going to pay a bit more.
A calculator is a calculator is a calculator, and its a programmable calculator. The number in the screen is just one more thing we don’t know for sure. I was really hoping for something with a screen that could just be displayed, but instead we got a calculator that can only display numbers. That just sucks.
