My experience with italics in Google Chat is that it seems like the opposite of auto-pilot. It takes longer for me to finish a sentence by typing or saying than it does to simply click.
The reason italics take longer to type than if you simply click is because italics are more likely to be missed. The reason Google Chat is so slow at typing is because it’s an interactive chat room, which means that typing and clicking are both required. It takes a long time for a room to fill up with people.
I’ve noticed that when I type in italics it often takes a long time for Google to recognize the word. In that case I’m not sure if it’s because it’s an error, or if it’s because it takes a while for the software to recognize the italics and realize it was misspelled. The latter seems more likely, although it could be both.
In the short term, the ability to type in italics might be a good thing. If your website is going to have a lot of italics, then your website might be better off without them. But if your website is going to have more than a handful of italics on it, then maybe the italics should be less important.
Some of our web analytics software monitors the number of times a phrase is typed in, and the number of times the phrase is misspelled. We’ve seen a big increase in italics at our web analytics firm in the past few months. We’re not sure exactly what is causing this, but we believe it’s due to a large number of users typing in italics.
If we were to create a website that would have this kind of problem, and not be able to have a hard time remembering, then we’d be at a loss. Though most of the time we use Google Analytics to find out what we should do. But it doesn’t seem to be at all a hard problem. And our website design team is going to have a hard time even finding out if it’s bad.
We’re just going to have to find a way to fix this, but we’re confident we can. This might be a good time to say that the Google Talk plugin that we use to give you voice control on your website is quite good, and can be easily integrated with other plugins. Though we’re only using it on one website, so this issue might be fixed there.
It’s not just the chat plugin that we had to fix, even the chat is affected in some way by this. I have to admit Google Talk is one of those things that I’m not sure if it’s a bug or a feature, but its definitely not the nice clean chat UI that it should be.
It’s a feature. It’s certainly not the clean UI that it should be.
I know it’s not just chat. The chat, the chat plugin, and the chat plugin’s text can all be affected by the italics in google chat.
