I would agree that this is only a problem should you get a new phone if it has a touch screen. If you have a phone with a touch screen that is smaller than what most people think it is, it probably has a screen that can go from on to off without touching buttons. But if you have a phone that is larger than what most people think it is, it may not have touch screen at all.
If your phone’s screen is larger than what most people think it is, the most likely culprit is likely a heating element, which is why it’s so easy to accidentally touch the screen when you’re standing there talking and not really paying attention to what you’re doing. To test your phone’s temperature you can simply move it to a cold room and see where the screen goes dark. If it still goes dark, it means your phone’s screen is larger than what most people think it is.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy S or Galaxy S2 with a touch screen, then you could have a very hard time figuring out where your phone’s screen temperature is. If you have a S3 or a S4 then it’s less of an issue since they have a more accurate temperature sensor on them.
You could also try to take it a step further and experiment with it. You could set your phone to get warm every time you touch it and see how it fares. There’s a great iPhone app called “Temperature” that is easy to use and you could also try to make your phone just be on heat whenever you touch it.
The good news is that the temperature sensor on your phone is very accurate. But the bad news is that it can get pretty warm. The best way to check your phone’s temperature is to just set it to get warm and see if it goes down. But a lot of times you’ll find your phone gets warmer or colder but not in any noticeable way.
