I’ve been a vegetarian for almost a decade now. I’ve lost a little more than 40 lbs in the process and I have a ton of new recipes up my sleeve. But I always wonder how I would feel if I didn’t eat meat for a few months.
Sure, I can understand why someone would want to eat meat for a few months, but does this actually make you less sad? I think it makes you more sad that you have a choice in what to eat.
The answer is, yes. Yes, you would. But not for the same reasons. When you go vegetarian, you take away one of the main things that makes you sad. The real reason is that you are less able to enjoy foods that have meat in them. You are less able to enjoy foods that are not made from animal flesh, not because you do not like meat, but because you do not know what meat tastes like.
It’s not a hard decision. When you want to go vegan, you are less likely to be sad, but you are also more likely to want to eat meat. Vegetarianism and veganism are two different things, but you are now less likely to want to eat meat, so you have less to regret.
