I do it all the time, but every time I’m at the airport I spend half I’m going home, half I’m going home to take my bags. I feel like I’m walking into a new world, and it’s like I’m walking into the World War II-era home of the Nazi World.
I know that there is a connection between all of the above, but I don’t quite understand it. In the World War II movie, the Nazis tried to take over the world by using their own food shortages as a weapon. But it’s not like they’re exactly following any of the basic principles of the “war on terror,” which is to say, they’re in it for the food, with no actual plan to stop the evil that they’re fighting.
The Nazi food supply chain was also one of the most efficient ones in the entire world. It was so efficient in part because of its simplicity. The Nazis didn’t have to waste a lot of resources to supply their armies. The same is true in the food supply lines of your average American. The average American household doesn’t have to go through the wasteful process of buying food from more than 150 different places, because there is a single company that sells it to them all.
For the Nazis there was no system of rationing or any other such nonsense. Instead, they had nothing to ration. They had a huge amount of food that they produced by the hundreds of thousands, and all that food was distributed to the cities that werent in their control.
This is the kind of thing that has me really worried about the future of food distribution. I know people who are planning on starting a local food economy, but their focus on getting the food out to their neighborhoods is just a distraction. The real focus should be on the production of food, not whether my local grocery store is open or not. The people who should be working on the production of food are the people who actually produce it.
The thing is that our food system is broken and there are many reasons why that is. First, farming is expensive and has a lot of environmental impact. Second, the food we eat is often prepared on a commercial scale and therefore has lots of added ingredients. Third, because the production of food is so big, we tend to have more food in many people’s homes than we know what to do with. And finally, the problem is that there are a lot of people who are hungry.
Our food system is broken because it isn’t always produced locally, and because it isn’t always made with local ingredients. In fact, we have all of the food that we eat grown in Asia and have been shipped to the US for processing. If we had the option to grow and produce food in our own communities, we would. But we don’t. We just buy food at supermarkets and feed our families on a much bigger scale.
A lot of people get food from the supermarket because they don’t know what to do with it. They look at the plastic bags and think “I could use this to make a sandwich, or I could just chuck it in the trashcan and pick up what’s left”. And so they throw it away. It has been proven that eating out is much more likely to lead to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease than eating at home.
I am not saying you should go to a supermarket to look for food. I am saying you should eat at home. You have the right to eat at home. There are a lot of ways you can cook food. You can cook food from scratch, but also use pre-made meals. You can use packaged meals, but also go to restaurants to eat out. You can use frozen foods, but also home-cooked meals.
Cooking is a very personal matter. The point of this article is not to make you feel better about not eating out. It is to encourage you to try new cooking options and to help you feel better about being unhealthy.
