For the past few weeks, I’ve been working out on a regular basis. A part of me thinks I’m crazy, but another part of me is determined to continue the consistent challenge. I’m doing the best I can, but I’m only human.
Ive been doing strength training for years. For the past few months Ive been doing a lot of Pilates classes as well. In fact, Ive even been doing Pilates with my friends for a while now. My favorite Pilates class is the class Ive been doing at Pilates Center on the West Side of Chicago – a Pilates class that is much more structured than other classes, and one that takes the class very seriously.
Pilates is a body-weight circuit-based exercise that I personally enjoy. Like any other form of exercise, I think its important to balance your level of activity with your daily habits. The key to Pilates is that you start by lifting heavy weights to build muscle, then gradually lower the weight until your body feels like it’s starting to feel its best. It’s a long, slow grind and then you can relax.
It can get really tedious and at times a little challenging to do, but the key to really sticking with Pilates is to start slowly and build up to a heavier weight. As you get stronger you can get your body into a position where you can hold for longer periods of time. Its a slow build and you don’t have to commit to the entire class.
I have a friend who recently started Pilates and her body hates it. She says it’s too boring, she doesn’t like the resistance. But she is in the best shape of her life and she loves it. My friend also loves to play video games, and Pilates lets her play all the games she wants. And one of the games she loves is Pilates. So I guess Pilates is kind of the opposite of the boring and tedious exercise routine.
Pilates can be a good option for those with pain or injury. If you are in pain or injured, Pilates can be a good way to keep that pain or injury from getting worse. Pilates is great if you are in pain because it has a lot of flexibility, so it is very easy to learn. However, if you don’t feel like being more flexible, you can change up the exercises a bit by moving the position of your feet or changing the way you hold your head.
