Error compiling board nodemcu 1.0 (esp-12e module) and some other modules. Please ensure your project is not compiled in this version of the ESP32 module.
We’ve heard from many people that the module is not working correctly in that it’s not recognizing the board and not reading the esp-12e.dll file. We’ve also heard from multiple people who have compiled and built the module but have encountered this error. We can’t help with that since we don’t have the source for that module yet, but we’ll do our best to fix it as soon as we can.
If you are using an ESP32 module compiled for an older ESP32 version of ESP32, please ensure that your module is compiled for the same version of ESP32. And if you are using an ESP32 module compiled for an earlier ESP32 version of the ESP32, please ensure that your module is compiled for the same version of ESP32.
ESP32 modules are a very common source of trouble in the field, so it’s important to make sure that you compile your module for the same version of ESP32 as your ESP32 module. For more info, check out this post by Phil Karn’s team.

On a similar note, when you compile your module, ESP32-related error messages should usually go away (or disappear pretty quickly) if you have the appropriate header file in your build for your ESP32 module. Unfortunately, as we’ve all seen in the past, ESP32-related error messages can also pop up if your ESP32 module has not been compiled with the header file in the build.
ESP32 is very popular, but can also be a challenge to compile. Not only do you want to get the module to compile, you also want to get it to work with your ESP32 board.
